What can we learn from Santa Claus when it comes to influencer marketing?

( ... reading time 2 min.)

If you want to understand the value of influencer marketing, you do not actually have to look any further than the man in the red suit. Santa Claus is living proof of how powerful a message becomes when it is delivered by someone we trust and feel safe with.

Influencers create relationships - and relationships create results

Just like Santa is a familiar and comforting figure for both children and adults, a good influencer can create a sense of closeness, calm, and recognition. They speak with their own voice - not the brand’s - and that is exactly why we listen.

This is what makes influencer marketing so special:

  • It feels human
  • It is built on trust
  • It creates confidence in decision-making

Just like Santa does.

From the North Pole to the newsfeed

If Santa had an Instagram profile, he would be the kind of content creator you follow for a little warmth and peace in your feed. Not because he shouts, but because he feels good to be around. The same goes for skilled influencers. They are storytellers who create a feeling - not just a campaign. And when messages are delivered by someone the audience already has a relationship with, it becomes so much easier to feel the meaning behind them.

Comfort before conversion

Most of us respond best to recommendations where the intention is clear: “I’m sharing this because I believe it can bring you something good.” Not because someone is shouting for attention.

Influencers are powerful because they can do exactly that: give messages a personal and caring frame. It makes decisions far less overwhelming - and much more reassuring.

So why are influencers so effective in marketing?

Because they can do the same things Santa has been doing for years:

  • They create anticipation and joy
  • They build relationships that last
  • They inspire people to believe in something bigger than just a product
  • They make messages warm, relatable, and human

And honestly… if Santa can make the whole world believe in magic simply by being himself and sharing stories, it’s pretty clear why influencer marketing works so well.
