So says spare parts manager from a machine dealer
Rune Fredenslund, Parts Manager from Lyngfeldt A/S, tells his angle on the development within technology and sustainability.
'Batteries are now the new thing - and that generates demand for that type of machine, for example pavement tractors that are battery-powered and can be recharged or methane-powered tractors that can pave the way for zero emissions, so it's smart. But is it just smart? In my view, there is a lack of a strategy for the waste management of the components when the machines are used up. Healthy skepticism and an open mind go a long way when it comes to cutting-edge technologies. Categorical opposition to the new technologies is not a constructive strategy', says Rune Fredenslund, Head of Spare Parts, who continues:
'When the outside world calls out for climate, then the development goes in the direction of this social mood. The law of focus says that what you look at is to become more of - especially if there is money involved.'
Perhaps the two biggest megatrends? Technology and Sustainability
The term 'Digitainability' is a contraction of the words digitization and sustainability and covers the fact that data and digitization can help to lift sustainable development.
'Even though data and digital devices consume electricity, research shows that it still pays because the digital solutions can save us resources elsewhere. And data is in many ways the solution to sustainable development. By using data, we can e.g. create awareness of our consumption, save our resources, and make better decisions based on data'.
