Midtdjurs Traktorlager Goes Digital to Improve the In-Store Experience
At Midtdjurs Traktorlager, over 10,000 different items fill the shelves—from garden tools to protective clothing, from chainsaws to compact tractors. With such a wide range of products and a busy store and webshop, pricing and organisation used to be a challenge.
Heidi Klemmensen, bookkeeper at Midtdjurs Traktorlager, explains:
“We care a lot about the customers getting the best experience. Updating all the price signs used to take forever — digitising that process has saved us so much time.”
A Digital Shift for Better Service
In the spring of 2022, they made the strategic decision to digitise their pricing system. Their goal? To increase customer satisfaction by improving store layout and ensuring price accuracy.
By Black Friday that same year, they had successfully implemented over 10,000 electronic shelf fronts across the store. The switch was driven by everyday frustrations—outdated prices, slow manual updates, and an increasing struggle to keep up with frequent pricing changes.
What started as a practical need quickly evolved into a powerful upgrade, making it easier to manage pricing, adapt to market conditions, and serve customers more efficiently.
Saving Time, Reducing Stress
Before DSM and electronic shelf fronts, updating prices meant manually printing and attaching labels—an error-prone and time-consuming process. Now, staff simply scan a product and update the price digitally, directly from the DSM system. This shift has freed up valuable time to focus on what matters: customer service and creating inspiring in-store displays.
The results haven’t gone unnoticed. Customers have complimented the look and precision of the new setup, offering praise like “it looks good” and “wow, it’s beautiful”—remarks that bring genuine joy to the team.
Smarter Inventory and Promotion Management
The shelf fronts have also streamlined inventory management. Staff can now instantly check if an item is in stock or on the way—saving time and unnecessary trips to the back room or warehouse loft.
Discounting has also become easier. By assigning a product discount group in DSM, the promotion is automatically pushed to all relevant shelf fronts—no manual labelling needed.
If something isn’t right, it’s easy to catch. As Heidi explains:
“If you look down the toy shelf and see one item that’s not on discount, then you know the item discount group is missing from the product card.”
A Flexible Solution That Supports Daily Operations
With DSM and electronic shelf fronts working hand in hand, Midtdjurs Traktorlager has improved both back-end processes and the customer experience—ensuring that the right products are always visible, accessible, and most importantly, priced correctly.
