N.C. Nielsen Unifies Business Processes with DSM
A new ERP system was a major strategic decision for N.C. Nielsen, Denmark’s leading supplier of internal transport machinery. After a careful review of the market, the company chose DSM from JMA.
“We want to be at the forefront when it comes to digital solutions,” explains Carsten Bach Pedersen, IT and Finance Manager at N.C. Nielsen. “A streamlined, flexible ERP system that connects our wide range of processes is a core ingredient in our growth.”
A Strategic Choice Backed by Industry Insight
The decision to work with JMA was made after a thorough process that began in 2015. First, the company mapped their existing processes and needs. Then they explored the market — and chose DSM.
What made the difference? The dialogue with JMA.
“JMA’s insight into our business — from developers to support and leadership — has been crucial,” says Carsten Bach Pedersen. “That consistent level of understanding is rare, and it’s made a real difference.”
One System from Quote to Delivery
DSM was implemented in February 2018. Since then, all sub-processes — from quotation and sales to invoicing, financing and shipping — are managed in a single, integrated system.
“Today, we have one system where everything is registered and working together,” says Carsten. “We start with the individual machine and follow it through the sales process. Even quotations are created directly in DSM.”
Each machine sold by N.C. Nielsen is highly customised — with add-ons, service agreements, financing options, and unique delivery terms. Connecting it all in one ERP system was essential to maintain accuracy, quality and speed.
“A machine from N.C. Nielsen is a finely tuned product with many add-ons. What ensures quality is that we use the same ERP system across all company processes—from logistics and sales to finance and credit rating.”
A Strong Collaboration Throughout the Process
The implementation process included daily contact between JMA and N.C. Nielsen, with on-site meetings, project tools and constant dialogue.
“JMA went further than most to tailor the system to our needs,” Carsten says. “It’s been a unique collaboration — and truly exemplary.”
Today, the system is stable — and the early growing pains are behind them.
But that doesn’t mean development has stopped. N.C. Nielsen continues to refine and improve their setup, including add-ons like travel billing and custom configuration tools.
“We will continue to focus on streamlining processes and IT systems,” Carsten says.
“Further refinement of configuration and calculation is on the horizon—along with potential new add-ons, like a travel expense module from JMA.”
